The city boasts some excellent restaurants, unique shops and other great shopping opportunities. Antiquing enthusiasts will also attest to the fact that Powell is one of the best places in the state in which to find those one-of-a-kind relics.
Although Powell only has a population of some 3,100 residents over its six square miles, it is serviced by a full-time village police department and a full-time Liberty Township Fire Department that has an emergency medical unit with state-of-the-art heart monitoring and trauma equipment. Nearby hospitals include Riverside Methodist in Columbus, Grady Memorial in Delaware and St. Ann's in Westerville.
The city recently issued bonds to construct a municipal service center and purchase additional land for parks. Also, construction of a municipal office center and a branch of the Delaware County Library are anticipated in the near future.
